Clipse: Tiny Desk Concert

Clipse is back! With no go-to band in place and a 16-year break, Clipse's Tiny Desk took a long time to come together. When I was informed of what they didn't want—no jazzy versions of their songs—I finally understood what they were seeking for in terms of sounds. They didn't aim to offend jazz in any way, and if you listen to the duo's music, you'll notice that it mostly consists of hard drums and even harder synths. Daru Jones, a hybrid drummer who performed on the LOX's Tiny Desk last year, was selected first due to his exceptional ability to blend electronic and traditional drum sounds. Everything else fell into place after he gave this set the realism it needed.
